Taipei Game Show Event Discuss Armored Core VI, and Provides New Information About the Game

By Keith MitchellFebruary 3, 2023
Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon reveal

Recently, Bandai Namco and Fromsoft hosted a live stream from the 2023 Taipei Game Show in Taiwan, that focused on the upcoming Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, and released new information upcoming title.

Below, you can find the cliff notes of what was discussed during the event.

  • The game will feature a single-player campaign and an online portion which will just be a versus mode against other players.
  • Emblems are back.
  • Hidetaka Miyazaki is NOT the main director of the game. He merely helped in the early stages and is the initial game director.
  • Yatsutaka Ogura, is the producer of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
  • Fromsoftware never intended the game between Armored Core: Verdict Day (2013) and Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, to be as long as it is. Many of the Fromsoftware staff had wanted to work on a new Armored Core game for quite some time. However, the company had several projects in the works, so a follow-up wasn’t possible at the time.
  • Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon isn’t directly connected to the series’ previous games, so new players can jump into the game without worrying about missing out.
  • The core element of Armored Core is very much alive in the new game., including being able to customize their mech with a vast collection of parts, colors, and will also be able to add weathering details.
  • Ogura-San stated that players would be pleased by the intensity of the boss battles in the game. This is where Fromsoftware will incorporate what they’ve learned from the Soulsborne games that they’ve come to master.
  • As the name suggests, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon will take place on a new planet called Rubicon. A new metal is found on this planet, and the story beings with the discovery and revolves around multiple corporations and organizations trying to control this resource. Players will act as a mercenary who is carrying out tasks and will be caught in the middle of this conflict.
  • Ogura-San hinted that the original trailer for the game has a few hints that veteran players may have recognized. I noted a few of these hints in my reaction video, which can be watched here.

Check out the entire event here, subtitled in English.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon releases in 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
