Evil West Q&A Session Provided Answers To All Our Questions

By Keith MitchellSeptember 9, 2022
Evil West Extended Gameplay

Following the recent Evil West extended gameplay reveal, there was a short Q&A session with Flying Wild Hog’s narrative lead Alek Sanjach and lead producer Tomasz Gop. I loved that it was stated that both were massive nerds, and they were thrilled about the game – I love that enthusiasm.

During this session, several questions were tossed at the Flying Wild Hog team, to which they were more than happy to answer. As such, I’ve compiled all of the answers in one handy place.

  • Evil West contains six missions and should take players between 10-15 hours, depending on if you’re looking to speed through the game or find everything that can be found.
  • There will be four levels of difficulty – Story, Normal, Hard, and Evil. Each difficulty will have specific trophies and achievements.
  • Evil West is primarily a single-player game but can be played coop. It’s also linear.
  • PS5 and Xbox Series X will have a performance and quality mode. The performance mode will be 1080p@60FPS, while the quality mode will be 4K@30FPS.
  • Xbox Series S will only feature 1080p@30FPS.
  • PS5 Dualsense will have haptic trigger support.
  • Jesse Rentier, the game’s protagonist,  will be able to wield between 7 ranged and 2 melee weapons.
  • Zero microtransactions.
  • Evil West Does not feature crossplay coop, and there are no plans to add it.

  • Kicks can stop enemies’ attacks and is the only move that can interrupt special attacks.
  • While the game’s store unfolds via cinematic cut scenes, there will also be items found throughout levels that offer bits of story and lore.
  • There will be a new game plus mode and a permadeath mode.
  • No photo mode as there wasn’t time to squeeze it in.
  • Evil West will support Ultrawide screen monitors.
  • It has been said the game has both Devil May Cry and God of War vibes and were inspirations for the game.
  • Evil West will support Nvidia’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution)
  • Evil West includes a skill tree that unlocks perks and abilities as the game progresses.
  • Asked about the Keyboard and Mouse experience, and while the developers rather play with a gamepad, they mentioned it is there and works well. The dev team has played with both.
  • There are female characters in the game – it wasn’t mentioned if this meant NPCs and/or playable characters.
  • There will be creatures other than vampires in the game, but they did not want to spoil them.
  • While every level will feature a mini-boss, they won’t always include a final stage boss.

So, that’s everything discussed during the Evil West Q&A, and is quite a bit of information.

I’ve been looking forward to playing Evil West ever since I had some hands-on during PAX East 2022. You read all about that preview here. Devil May Cry? God of War? That is completely up my alley and probably yours as well.

Evil West, the game will be released on  November 22, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
