Accessibility Features Are Heading to Resident Evil Village

When Winter’s Expansion releases for Resident Evil Village later this year, it won’t just be bringing a ton of new content to play. Everyone is looking forward to the next chapter of the game, Shadow of Rose, but there’s something way more exciting that will be released alongside the expansion — Accessibility Features.

A free update for Resident Evil Village will provide several accessibility features, including the following;

– Subtitle size, color & background toggles
– Speaker’s name displayed in story mode
– Closed captions
– Permanent reticle

All of these updates are not only welcomed but sorely needed for some and will enhance the experience for everyone who plays the game. Now, while I won’t say these options should have been in the game from the start, it is a great move on Capcom’s part to acknowledge that these features were sorely missing.

A free accessibility update for all Resident Evil Village users is coming alongside the Winters' Expansion and Gold Edition in October, adding:

– Subtitle size, color & background toggles
– Speaker name display in story mode
– Closed captions
– Permanent reticle

As for Shadow of Rose, this next chapter of Resident Evil Village will take place 16 years after the original game. All grown up, the daughter of Ethan Winters, Rose Winters, struggles to control her powers. And she’ll do anything to be rid of them, and here’s where the story of Shadow of Rose begins. In addition to the story, a new third-person mode is being added, as is an update to the Mercenaries mode, Additional Order.

Mercenaries Additional Order will bring arcade-like action shooting experience returns with additional stages and new playable characters such as a fully prepared Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, who wields a giant hammer and possesses the ability to control magnetic forces, and Alcina Dimitrescu, who is over nine-feet tall.

Resident Evil Village DLC Winter's Expansion

The Resident Evil Village Winters’ Expansion launches on October 28 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It will be available as an add-on to Resident Evil Village, or you can acquire the base game + the expansion in the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.
