Master Splinter Playable In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Also Heading To PS4 and Xbox One

TMNT Shredders Revenge - Master Splinter Added To Roster

Today, Dotemu and Tribute Games have finally confirmed that everyone’s favorite rat, Master Splinter, will be a playable character in the upcoming title, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

While it wasn’t officially confirmed before, thankfully, Master Splinter will be playable in the game. This will be the first time that the character has been playable in an official TMNT game — at least as far as I remember. As a child and being a fan of TMNT, I’ve always wanted to play as him. Sadly, when Konami had the license, Splinter was part of those games as a non-playable character. Now, we’ll finally be able to play as the father and master of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.

I also love that Splinter’s design is based on one from the TMNT cartoons we watched in the ’80s and ’90s. Master Splinter’s calm, thoughtful nature makes him more collected than most of his green pupils, but his mastery of ninja arts ensures that he’s a formidable powerhouse. He dishes out particularly powerful attacks with his trusty staff and wide-reaching special ninja moves, bashing through groups of enemies as efficiently as the Turtles chowing down on a pizza.

A new gameplay trailer for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge has been released, which shows Splinter in action. Check it out below.

The addition of Master Splinter brings the playable roster to six, which already included Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michaelangelo, and April O’Neil.

While we still don’t know when the game will be released, it’s nice to see that Dotemu is keen on providing updates on it. All I know is I can’t wait to get my hands on this game, as it’s been far too long since I had a chance to play with the Mean Green Team. Anyway, I call dibs on Leonardo!

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is being developed by Dotemu and Tribute Games. You may recall that Dotemu helped create the godlike game, Streets of Rage 4. The game will also include online co-op, according to the Steam page. Here’s to hoping that it’s just as good as Streets of Rage 4’s online play, or better.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will be available for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
