Prepare to See Double in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ New Trailer

By Sara Roncero-MenendezDecember 22, 2021

There’s been a lot of talk around the MCU about the multiverse, starting with the ending of WandaVision, to the many episodes of Marvel’s What If…?, and finally, in the new addition to the MCU’s film line-up Spider-Man: No Way Home. But it looks like the time has come to finally start entertaining all the weird and dark possibilities of the Marvel multiverse with the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Launched as a post-credits scene at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, this new trailer is now out for everyone to enjoy. We see Doctor Stranger dealing with the repercussions of the spell cast in Spider-Man: No Way Home, mostly with the world melting away. It’s up to Strange to fix his mistake, but he’ll have to make new allies, like Scarlet Witch and Miss America, and take on old enemies like Mordo. Oh, and square off against a dark alternate reality version of himself. All in a day’s work for our friend Doctor Strange!

While we only see her for the briefest of moments, we also get Xochitl Gomez as America Chavex, aka Miss America. It’ll be cool to see how she gets involved in the action. Besides our big name stars, we also get back Rachel McAdams as doctor and love interest Christine Palmer and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo. The film is directed by Sam Raimi (weird he’s not doing more Spider-Man movies but okay), written by Loki executive producer Michael Waldron and newcomer Jade Halley Bartlett, with music by Danny Elfman.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres in theaters on May 6, 2022.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
