Ubisoft wants you to know that there’s no charge for Far Cry 6 upgrades

Ubisoft wants to let everyone know that if you purchase a PS4 or Xbox One of Far Cry 6, you’ll be able to upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions for free. I suppose after all that nonsense of PlayStation going back on its word about upgrades, and then walking that back is making other companies rethink their upgrade strategy. I don’t recall if Ubisoft had planned on making Far Cry 6 a free upgrade prior to this. Either way, a free upgrade is great news for anyone who isn’t able to upgrade to a new console just yet but plans on doing so in the future.

Upgrading to Next Generation (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S)

It’s another exciting year in gaming as players worldwide anticipate the release of the next-generation consoles, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. We are happy to share that physical and digital copies of Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Far Cry 6 are eligible to be upgraded from the current generation to next-generation consoles at no additional cost. You will need to purchase the digital version of the game if you want to upgrade on either the PS5 digital console or the Xbox Series S.

The setting of Far Cry 6 takes place in Yara, a fictional Caribbean island ruled as a dictatorship by “El Presidente” Antón Castillo who is hellbent on raising this son Diego to follow in this footsteps. Something that Diego seems to be hesitant to do. Players will take the role of guerilla fighter Dani Rojas, who attempting to topple Castillo and his regime. Similar to Far Cry 5, players will be able to choose the sex of the character, female or male, before embarking on their adventure.

For some other great Far Cry 6 news, it would seem that Ubisoft is really putting in some work on the PC version. The company is promising “a smooth experience with uncapped frame rates”, 4K and ultra-widescreen support, and even a built-in benchmarking tool. that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as frame rate locking and AMD’s adaptive resolution options are also in the game. There’s even an optional HD texture pack for those who have the GPU power to push those extra pixels.  It sounds like a proper experience for PC gamers and one that I’m looking forward to.

Here’s the PC required and recommended specs in case you missed them.
