Xenoblade Chronicles 3 could be revealed this year

By Ryan EasbyAugust 9, 2021

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is on the horizon.

According to a report from Imran Khan over at Fanbyte, actress Jenna Coleman (of Doctor Who fame) accidentally let slip the existence of a third game two months ago and has recently caught the attention of gaming social media.

During the interview, Coleman was discussing her role in the first Xenoblade Chronicles game while accidentally letting slip something extra, saying the following:

“God, when was the first game? Ten years ago? It was a long time ago, I did it pre-Doctor Who days and when they did the second one, they asked me to come back. And I think they’re going to do another. Common knowledge? Don’t know. Yeah, I think they’re going to do another. Not sure if I’m allowed to say that.”

Khan states that his sources can confirm the existence of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and be originally set to be revealed earlier this year, but pandemic development and optimization caused delays. The game is reportedly aiming for more on-screen at any one time than any previous title in the series and could be revealed at some point this year, perhaps during an upcoming Nintendo direct.

Adding to this, back in March 2021, Yasunori Mitsuda had mentioned he was preparing for a large-scale project. Many know Mitsuda as the composer who had worked on Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2. With the accidental mention from Jenna Coleman, this adds credibility that Xenoblade Chronicles could very well be in development. It’s quite possible we could possibly get a reveal of sorts sooner than expected; perhaps at this upcoming 2021 Gamescom event.

Our very own Todd Black took a look at Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition only last year, so it’ll be interesting to see what a new Xenoblade could bring to the table.
