Redfall is the biggest surprise from the Xbox & Bethesda E3 2021 Showcase

Well, today has certainly been a day. The Xbox & Bethesda E3 2021 showcase has come and gone, but not without providing us with plenty to talk about. From Halo Infinite, an update on Grounded, the official reveal of Forza Horizon 5, Starfield, and several other outstanding games. But nothing was more impressive, to me at least, than the reveal of Redfall.

I’m shocked that this game wasn’t leaked, and it was great to see it being revealed during the event. See, when stuff doesn’t get leaked, we all can get excited.

What is Redfall?

From the brilliant minds of Arkane Studios, Redfall is a nice departure from so many other games we’ve seen. There are no zombies, no alien forces, and it’s more grounded in the realm of another supernatural creature that we don’t often see – Vampires—a brand new, original game that happens to be an Xbox exclusive. The premise is that Vampires have overrun the down of Redfall, Massachusettes, and they’re doing a number on the town. They’ve blocked out the sun and cut off any contact from the surrounding world, and they’ve managed to turn some of the town’s residents to their side – the people of Redfall are pretty much screwed.

Now these Vampires, didn’t come to Redfall on their own. Apparently, some entity was experimenting on these creatures, and things got out of hand. Of course, someone just had to open up a can of Vampires and poke them with stuff to make them mad.

Or are they? From the darkness comes a team of survivors armed with weapons and what appears to be telekinetic powers to combat the threat. From the trailer, we can see that this is an open-world first-person shooter that allows up to four players. As well as a diverse and colorful cast of characters, along with some witty humor to boot.

Here’s who you’ll be playing as in Redfall.

Layla Ellison – She may be the youngest member of the team, but there isn’t much she can’t handle with her wits and wildly powerful telekinetic abilities. Maybe it’s just me, but she looks to have some Vampire action going on for her.

Jacob Boyer – Jacob is an ex-military sharpshooter with a penchant for dark clothing and a mysterious vampiric eye. If you need to find him on the field, look for his spectral raven circling overhead. Jacob won’t be far away.

Remi de la Rosa – Always spotted with her robotic compatriot, Bribón, Remi lives on the frontlines of conflict, using her brilliant mind and strong sense of empathy to protect her loved ones and help those in need around the world.

Devinder Crousley – Inventor and internet-famous paranormal investigator, Devinder is ready to prove to the world that vampires are real – but he’s going to need to survive them first.

Sadly, we didn’t get to see any gameplay; however, the trailer was enough to get me excited. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Redfall up until the game gets released. An open-world FPS against Vampires; I can definitely get behind this. We’ve done Zombies and Aliens to death.

Redfall is being developed by Arkane Austin and will release exclusively for the Xbox Series X|S and PC during the Summer of 2022. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one, so that’s one more thing to look forward to.

Are you looking forward to Redfall? Let us know in the comments. 2
