New Indie Fighting Game Coreupt Shown During Guerrilla Collective Show

Coreupt indie 2d fighting game-01

Shown off during the Guerrilla Collective show is a new 2D fighting game called Coreupt. In development by Team Coreupt (Jesse Wright and Wayne J. Robinson), the game is being developed in the Unreal Engine and is slated to be released for next-gen consoles and the PC. It will be a free-to-play title and published by Rogue Games.

Check out the trailer from the game below that features two fighters, Gatling and Destroy, as they smack each other up. It looks incredible in action. Be sure to watch the animations during the attacks and the changing background.

There’s a lot going on in the video, especially all the meters and symbols. From what we see, there’s the health bar, a combo break bar, a special meter, and several symbols that indicate yet unknown abilities. At first glance, it looks similar to the Gougi system from Fighting EX Layer. However, Team Coreupt Team was quick to point out there are not the same. More trailers that will showcase what these are will be released at a later date.

Also, if the game looks somewhat familiar, it should. The two characters, Destroy and Gatling, were featured in another fighting game that Jesse Wright was part of; Black Salt Coreuption. A 3D fighting game that was released on Steam a few years back. Both games are based on the Coreupt comic universe.

It will be interesting to see how Coreupts shapes up, and I’m looking forward to seeing more of it in the upcoming months. Here’s to hoping we’ll see more of the game during E3 2021.
