Nintendo Switch Sales Exceed 68 Million, Multiple New Million-Sellers Revealed

By Todd BlackNovember 5, 2020
Nintendo Switch Black Friday 2019

Many people wondered just how much the global pandemic would affect the sales of video games, and by and large, it hasn’t. Especially when it comes to Nintendo, who revealed their Q2 numbers (meaning the months of July, August, and September), and the results are quite interesting, to say the least. First and foremost, the Nintendo Switch itself (both in regular and Lite forms) has sold a combined 68.03 million units since its launch in March 2017. And combined, during Q2 2020, the Switch sold 6.86 million units. An awe-inspiring number indeed.

Just as important, though, is the Nintendo gave an updated list of some of its top software sellers. Including revealing the very impressive numbers for Paper Mario The Origami King, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive edition, Animal Crossing New Horizons, and more:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 28.99 million
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – 26.04 million
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – 21.10 million
Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 19.74 million
Pokemon Sword/Shield – 19.02 million
Super Mario Odyssey – 18.99 million
Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee – 12.49 million
Super Mario Party – 12.10 million
Splatoon 2 – 11.27 million
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – 8.32 million
Luigi’s Mansion 3 – 7.83 million
Ring Fit Adventure – 5.84 million
Super Mario 3D All-Stars – 5.21 million
Paper Mario: The Origami King – 2.82 million
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics – 1.81 million
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition – 1.40 million

So as you can see, Nintendo is doing just fine, and they’ll continue doing fine in the next quarter as holiday sales will no doubt drive the Switch over the 70 million sold mark and get even more games sold.
