Stephenie Meyer is Writing Two More Twilight Books

By Sara Roncero-MenendezAugust 14, 2020

Remember when we thought that Stephenie Meyer’s new book, Midnight Sun, was going to be the last we heard of the Twilight franchise? How hopeful we were. Now that the book is out, the author says she’s got at least two more books she wants to write for the franchise.

For those of you who have remain blessedly naive, Twilight follows a teenage girl named Bella who falls in love with a vampire named Edward. Insert angst, a werewolf-vampire love triangle, weird biology and a lot of unhealthy behaviors in a relationship. The first four books follow the story from Bella’s perspective, while Midnight Sun follows the first book’s events from Edward’s perspective. And now it looks like there’s going to be two more coming at some point in the future.

“There are two more books I think in the world that I want to write. I have got them outlined and a chapter written I think of the first one, so I know it’s there. I am not ready to do that right now, I want to do something brand new,” Meyer tells USA Today. “For me, a lot of the joy of writing comes from creating and I really want to do a new world and new rules and new mythology. Mythology is kind of my thing.”

No word as to whether it’ll be more books from Edward’s perspective or if these will be other stories in the universe. It sounds like they won’t be coming out for a while, so at least there’s going to be a respite from the series. But all I can say is be afraid, be very afraid. The sparkly vampires live on.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
