Tony Stark-Inspired Character Appears in The God of High School

By Josh PiedraJuly 13, 2020

The God of High School has begun airing on Crunchyroll and they have a special announcement concerning an upcoming episode! Due to the creator and director of the show being big Marvel fans, a character was created with the likeness of Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark character!

Crunchyroll has released a clip from an upcoming documentary! You can check out the clip below:

In the full documentary, which premieres later this month, Crunchyroll takes viewers into MAPPA studios to meet the team behind The God of High School anime, along with the original WEBTOON creator, Yongje Park, who talks about the collaborative process of creating this Crunchyroll Original series. Yongje Park notes that when he drew this episode over a decade ago, Barack Obama was the President of the United States. However, the anime’s director, Sunghoo Park said Obama won’t be making an appearance in the anime. Being a big Marvel fan himself (with the Marvel tattoo to prove it), the director designed the Iron Man-inspired character who was actually voiced by Keiji Fujiwara, the same actor who voiced Iron Man in Japan

Keiji Fujiwara was also known for his roles as Maes Hughes in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to Kimura in Hajime no Ippo, Leorio in Hunter x Hunter, Axel in the Kingdom Hearts series, and more.

The God of High School is an action-packed series that follows a high schooler and his friends as they compete in an epic tournament, borrowing power directly from the gods and uncovering a mysterious organization along the way… With the promise of their heart’s deepest desires, motivating their tournament victory.
