Paramount Pictures announced that the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie will open in the United States on April 8, 2022.

The announcement of a sequel was made back on May 28. Jeff Fowler is slated to return to direct the sequel along with Pat Casey and Josh Miller as scriptwriters.

The original movie earned a little over $70 million during its opening weekend of February 14-17.  Cumulatively, the film earned around $306 million worldwide. The film was considered a major success after it was initially delayed due to severe fan backlash over the design of Sonic.

If you haven’t watched the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie but enjoy video games, you may want to give it a watch. It’s easily one of the better video game adaptions ever created. Or, you can check out our review of Sonic the Hedge, here.
