August PS Plus Games Include ‘Modern Warfare 2 Remastered’

By Andrew AgressJuly 27, 2020
Modern Warfare 2

This August, PS Plus members can download two free games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. This past month marked the tenth anniversary of the service, so players could download three free games. If you have yet to do so, you have until August 3rd. There’s still time. Of course, not every month can be the anniversary of PS Plus with a special bonus game, but there is something special for PlayStation fans this time around. Normally the games are only made available the first Tuesday of the month, but this time around players can download Modern Warfare 2 starting tomorrow, July 28th.

So let’s take a look at the game that we’re getting sooner rather than later, shall we? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 first debuted in 2009, and marked a high point for the Call of Duty series. The remastered edition came out this past March, so it’s surprising that it would see a PS Plus release so soon after its retail release. We’ll now take a moment to press F to pay respects to all those who bought the game this past March for it to now come to PS Plus. For those who didn’t get it, tomorrow you’ll be able to treat yourselves to Infinity Ward’s hit first-person shooter continuing the story of the special forces unit led by Captain Soap MacTavish from the original Modern Warfare.

If you’re looking for something a bit on the lighter side, the other free game for August is Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Available to download on August 4th, the quirky game from Devolver Digital sees 60 players overcoming obstacles online while playing as goofy-looking Fall Guys. Inspired by obstacle racing TV reality shows like Wipeout, players can join competitive or co-op game modes involving physics-based challenges. The game actually releases on August 4th, so PS Plus members will be able to jump right in (and get knocked over).

Despite the different starting dates, both games will be available until Monday, August 31st, according to the PlayStation Blog. Additionally, for PlayStation 4 players without PS Plus, another free multiplayer weekend will take place on August 8th and 9th. If you have yet to download the 10th Anniversary PlayStation Plus Theme, you can do that right here for a limited time.
