Spider-Man: Miles Morales takes place one year after the original game

By Keith MitchellJune 18, 2020

Thankfully, not only have we received more information on Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but the messaging that we originally received has been correct.

So here’s what we know; Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone game, not an expansion to the PS4 Marvel’s Spider-Man. Think of this more along the line of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, as this will be a new adventure but a bite-sized one.  This new game will feature a new story that will follow Miles rise as Spider-Man and will include new villains as well as new quests, all in New York.

This game will take place one year after the events from Spider-Man, and will start right around the Christmas Holiday. Miles will see his home town of Harlem being shaken up by a war between a high tech criminal army and an energy corporation. Fans of the comic, anyone want to take bets on exactly who these organizations are?

It’s also interesting that this will take place in Harlem, as several Marvel heroes frequent that area, including two notable ones; Luke “Power Man” Cage and Sam Wilson “aka” The Falcon. Whether or not these two make an appearance is unknown, but it would be interesting to see two other black superheroes make an appearance.

As Miles Spider-Man varies from Peter Parker’s, we’ll also see the differences between the two, such as the Venom Strike and Invisibility. There will be a distinct feeling of playing as Miles, and thankfully so as both heroes are completely different. In this new game, we’ll see Miles struggle with his new-found powers as he comes Spider-Man.

Hopefully, we’ll see some cues taken from both the Marvel comics and even Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, because I loved how they conveyed him in that movie. However, we do get a  sneak peek at how he moves already, as we saw him swinging through the skyline in Spider-Man: Miles Morales reveal.

This game was already on my “must-play’ games for the PlayStation 5, and everything that Insomniac Games has mentioned has only solidified this. I can’t wait to get my hands on both Spider-Man: Miles Morales and a PlayStation 5.

This also isn’t the end of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, as he’ll not only be tutoring Miles but also getting ready for his next adventure. Just think of this as the beginnings of a new hero in the Marvel gaming universe, and if we’re lucky, we’ll see more of Miles in the future.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will launch this holiday season alongside the release of the PlayStation 5. For information on Spider-Man: Miles Morales, be sure to check out the article on the PlayStation Blog.
