Sakurai Is Working On Super Smash Bros Ultimate Remotely

There’s been a lot of questions about the video game industry in regards to what’s going on with the CoronaVirus. Mainly, people are wondering if games will be delayed because of shipping issues, or personnel issues, and so on and so forth. Recently, Super Smash Bros Ultimate head Masahiro Sakurai noted that while his team hadn’t been affected by the virus personally, it had affected their workflow in regards to Fighter Pass 2. The next wave of DLC content for the beloved title.

Now, Sakurai has gone onto Twitter himself and noted that while things are still progressing, he’s now overseeing the game from a remote location. More than likely his home or another safe place that he owns. He notes that this is a hard thing to do given the secretive nature of the project (in that he doesn’t want leaks of characters) but that it must be done.

The next character in Super Smash Bros Ultimate is set to be a character from the ARMS franchise, and they’re currently set to arrive in June. But aside from that? We don’t know anything else.

Could the Fighter Pass be delayed in large chunks because of the pandemic? Would you be ok with that if it keeps Sakurai and his team safe? Let me know in the comments below, be sure to subscribe, and I’ll see you next time on the channel!
