Taika Watiti’s ‘Jojo Rabbit’ Has a New Trailer Featuring a German Cover of “I’m a Believer”

Jojo Rabbit Trailer

Fox Searchlight is back with another new trailer for its upcoming satire Jojo Rabbit. This trailer has a bit more drama in it than the preceding slapstick-heavy ones. Nevertheless, it still has a few lighthearted moments likely to put a smile on your face. Check it out:

One of the surprise highlights of the trailer is a German-language cover of the song “I’m a Believer.” Originally composed by Neil Diamond and sung by The Monkees, the song has endured thanks to a Smash Mouth version in the early 2000s. But “I’m a Believer” isn’t the only song in the trailer that gets a new cover. David Bowie’s iconic hit “Heroes” gets the Germany treatment as well. Hopefully we get even more German versions of popular songs in the film itself, or at least the chance to hear these again.

Directed, written, and produced by Taika Waitit, who also has a starring role as Jojo’s imaginary friend Adolf Hitler, Jojo Rabbit arrives in theaters on October 18th. The film also stars Roman Griffin Davis, Thomasin McKenzie, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Stephen Merchant, Rebel Wilson, and Alfie Allen. Based on the book “Caging Skies” by Christine Leunens, the story focuses on a young boy in Nazi Germany who discovers that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic.

Andrew comes from the majestic land of New Jersey (the part that doesn't smell). A big fan of sketch comedy, he writes and performs it whenever possible. He gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
