It wasn’t that long ago that WayForward announced they were working on a new Shantae game. Previously only known as Shantae 5, the company has announced a name change. Shantae 5 is now known as Shantae and the Seven Sirens!
Formerly referred to as Shantae 5, Shantae and the Seven Sirens sends the belly-dancing, hair-whipping, half-genie hero to a tropical island where Shantae and her friends encounter other Half-Genie allies, but they soon learn there’s trouble in paradise. As Shantae gets caught up in the island’s sinister secrets, she’ll use all-new dance abilities and instant-transformation Fusion Magic to explore the nonlinear, interconnected world where she’ll visit multiple towns, overcome treacherous labyrinths, and battle dastardly bosses. The game also features a new collectible card system that grants players the freedom to augment Shantae’s powers to suit their own style of play.
In addition to the name change, WayForward also provided more info on what we can expect in the game. Shantae will gain new dances yet again, new fusion magics, new transformations, while her next adventure will take place in a new tropical location. Perhaps the biggest news is that they’re adding multiple cities and towns, meaning the game will have an interconnected world. 4K support is also in for devices that support the resolution.
WayForward has also mentioned that more information will be released at a later time. Hopefully, that means we’ll hear more about the title during Gamescom 2019.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens is slated for a late 2019 release on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Apple Arcade.
