Long-time Japanese rock band Janne Da Arc announced that they will be breaking up. ka-yu, the band’s bassist, recently entered into legal disputes with the band and departed. After ka-yu’s departure, the band announced that they would be breaking up. The band formed in 1991 and was active through 2007. The band had not produced any new music or albums since then. The band will finish with 26 singles, 3 EPs, and 6 studio albums.

The band lent its talents to the anime and video game industry producing songs for shows such as One Piece and Black Jack. In the gaming world, Janne Da Arc also produced the opening theme song, WILD FANG, for Rockman X8 (Mega Man X8’s Japanese counterpart). The song was omitted in the English version of the game.

ka-yu was the only member of the band was not in the same high school class as other members yasu, you, kiyo, and shuji. The other four members graduated in the same class from Hirakata West High School. For the release of their single album Furimukeba, the band returned to their high school to perform.

While the legal matter surrounding ka-yu was not detailed, it was reported that the band wanted to return to focus on music; however, ka-yu stated that he found something more important than the band and left.
