Overwatch League Off-Season Action Starts Today

We are only a few hours away from the first off-season event and matches of the Overwatch League.  Two of the California teams, the Los Angeles Valiant and the San Francisco Shock, are preparing to duel it out at the first ever California cup.  From a first look at the rosters since last season to Junkertown IRL, the event is shaping up to be something special.

The California Cup will be a two event affair with home matches for each team.  Today the LA Valiant will be hosting the first part with the matches taking place at the Esports Arena in Santa Ana, California.  From the schedule posted on the San Francisco teams’ twitter this will be an all day event.  Some of the highlights include collegiate matches, a meet-and-greet with the teams, and a Variety Showmatch.

The main event is, of course, the match between the two Overwatch League teams fighting for the cup and bragging rights.  This will be the first look for fans and analysts alike of the new teams.  A chance to preview what these rosters will look like going into the new season is one that shouldn’t be missed.

Also at the event today will be the free Be Valiant: Community Block Party.  According to the Eventbrite page the block party will feature, “Valiant-themed carnival games, food trucks, live music and performances, local artists, a meet and greet with the LA Valiant, and more.”  Also part of the party will be “Junkertown IRL Presented By Nitto Tires” and the famous Wells Fargo Stage Coach.  If your going to the cup today, or just in the area this looks to be a great time.

The event has sold out but that doesn’t mean you have to miss any of the action.  The match will be broadcast on twitch.  For fans living a little farther north, there are still tickets to part two of the cup.  That stage will be held at the Esports Arena in Oakland on November 20th.
