The First Book on the Overwatch League

I can count on one hand the print books out there related to esports that I would recommend.  Amazon looks like they will be adding one to my list however with Overwatch League Inaugural Season: Official Collector’s Edition Guide.  Though the cover features the Season One champions in their moment of glory, the book promises a celebration of the first season.  Coming to us from Prima games the books description on the Amazon page reads:

Relive the Overwatch League’s inaugural season with this collector’s edition retrospective. This fan-focused companion volume celebrates the matches, teams, and players that made the 2018 Overwatch League season such a success!

Bullet points on the page explain some of the features of the large book such as “Behind-the-scenes interviews” and “Feature coverage of the Grand Finals champions, the London Spitfire.”

What to expect from this book in terms of the behind-the-scenes interviews as they relate to some of the less positive aspects of the first season is anyone’s guess.  It may be that the book focuses primary on the success of the London Spitfire and production of the Overwatch League.  Exciting though is the possibility of interviews with former players such as xQc or real insight into the inner workings and problems with the production of the this still relatively new professional esports league.  Either way, I’m looking forward to adding this book to my library, both as a fan and as a reference on the first season.

Prima Games would be best known by gamers for their video game strategy guides.  Assuming they bring their usual high level of quality to this book on the first season of the Overwatch League we can expect and excellent read.  You can get your pre-order of the book on Amazon here.  As of right now only a hardcover edition exists for pre-order.  The 336 page tome will run you $35.99 and will be available on November 16th, 2018.
