75% joking, but such a sweep by a single anime AGAIN this year

They only put shows on here that you can watch on crunchyroll, Little Witch is only available on Netflix.

Considering LWA was nominated for quite a few, I think it should’ve won one

There’s a couple shows on here that you can’t watch on Crunchyroll (Girls’ Last Tour and Land of the Lustrous) and they both won an award.

The selection of nominees were also abysmal, too. There were so many other shows/characters that got passed over. This is two years in a row where this show has been a slap in the face to the anime community.

The utter bullshite that Crunchyroll just posts popular anime in Anime Awards is over the top. They need to start putting in less known, quality anime to get them known. I’m not an elitist, but this is way too far for someone as a freelancer. I wish they would put in people like Akidearest, The Anime Man, Gigguk, Mother’s Basement, and etc. because at least they are connected with the community more so than Crunchyroll. They have actually watched the anime this year (except Joey, he was busy with traveling :/). I mean no offense to the people who did choose, don’t get me wrong. Just perhaps… Put someone in that actually knows what they are doing. Anime Awards may be new, but the concept isn’t.

I thought they tried to balance things this year. I love hero aca but damn it didnt deserve this much and there were a lot of good selections so this is pretty disappointing

This is just the My Hero Academia awards. I am glad that Made In Abyss got Anime of the Year though. It was definitely deserved. Rakugo got it last year so I think it was better to have some more variety in that department at least. But seriously fuck HeroAca. I love the series but the ridiculous hype surrounding it is toxic now. Probably cause the Naruto fans all had to switch over to a new Shounen after their own got trashed. Why in the hell Dragon Maid got ending of the year when Inuyashiki exists I don’t understand. Shoto Todoroki is edgy Sasuke trash so it’s no wonder all the fangirls we’re squealing over his characterisation. Ochako was somewhat deserved since she’s adorable, though Little Witch Academia could have won it with every character.

Your name is overrated, I think A Silent Voice was by far more deserving considering it’s beautiful animation by Kyoto Ani and the message the movie conveyed being stronger than the classic “starcrossed lovers” scenario.

All in all, it was better than Yuri On Ice awards since it was a bit more skewed compared to last year, but it still seems to be that one anime that gets way more attention than the other outstanding series. On the bright side Anime of the Year wasn’t also My Hero Academia S2 but a series that is still criminally underrated for it’s outstanding quality.

Go listen to the Princess Principal opening. Then the Magus Bride opening. Then the Hero Ac opening, then dare to tell me that butt rock from the 90s sounds better than either of those first two opening songs.

There’s nothing wrong with rock from the 90’s! =P

But yeah… I do like the opening to MHA but there were songs that were clearly better… Princess Principal being one of them.
