The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Heads To Xbox One With 4K Support

By Keith MitchellJanuary 5, 2018

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a title that’s more than meets the eye. While many pegged this as a simple walking simulator, the game is more than just that. Featuring a captivating story and beautiful graphics, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a title that everyone should play at least once. Now Xbox One owners will finally be able to play it, as it’s coming to the Xbox One. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is set to release on Jan. 19, 2018 and is priced at $19.99. You can pre-order it now over at the Xbox Store.

The game will include everything that was available in the PS4 and PC, plus more. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will be Xbox One X Enhanced, so it will include 4K support. In addition, it a new mode will be included – a Free Roam mode. One of the complaints that The Astronauts received is that gamers wanted to be able to explore more. Now that will be possible. Free Roam mode allows players to take in the sights and sounds of Red Creek Valley on their own terms, without a trace of murder.

We’ve reached out to The Astronauts to see if the Free Roam mode will also make its way to the PS4 and PC.

In The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, you play the game as Paul Prospero, an occult-minded detective who receives a disturbing letter from Ethan Carter. Realizing the boy is in grave danger, Paul arrives at Ethan’s home of Red Creek Valley, where things turn out to be even worse than he imagined. Ethan has vanished in the wake of a brutal murder, which Paul quickly discerns might not be the only local murder worth looking into.
