The Outerhaven YouTube Weekly Roundup January 21, 2018

We here at the Outerhaven want you to know us not only for our passions surrounding gaming, tech, television, movies, anime, manga, etc. Every week we’re going to deliver to you a list of videos we have been checking out while cyberloafing the internet. It gives you a chance to see another side to us, one that isn’t focused on covering the latest news or reviews. While this list will be largely safe for work, we must warn against things that may incite any phobias that you may have. Enjoy!

Sara’s Pick:

Why is this video so popular? By all accounts, it should have been a funny blip on the radar, but damn if it’s not absolutely fascinating.

Clinton’s Pick:

This here is NSFW…and NSFMR (Not Safe for Mumble Rappers)

The homie gmcfosho came out with another classic before 2017 ended with the banger BOSS NGA. It takes inspiration from Final Fantasy and Undertale, but the bars are dope, such as this gem right here:

Cause I’m Fly (Cause I’m Fly x2)
I wonder why you’d even try to cross the line, bitch i’m that asymptote
Cause I’m Fly (Cause I’m Fly x2)
I’m in da sky, I’m oh so high
I see no limits, I think my limit broke

Then later in the song, a reference to Final Fantasy VII pops up that made me almost spit my drink out:

I see you got your game genie…what’s your first wish?
That I ain’t kill that bitch on the first disc? (well I killed your bitch on the first disc)

Holy shit, Gil is dope as fuck. Just sayin.

Josh’s Pick

Caleb Hyles is one of my favorite YouTube cover artists. He has an absolutely amazing voice, but I will admit that despite all of that, I was a bit put off when I saw him offer up a cover of “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence. The reason being is that song was so overplayed back in its day that even years later, I don’t really feel like listening to it. It’s not to say that the song is bad by any means.. it is a terrific song, but when it gets played into the ground, there’s a certain feeling that remains with you as you associate that feeling with that song.
With that being said… even if you have that same feeling, click that link and watch Caleb’s version of it. Once you hear the opening metal riffs and Caleb’s voice… all of those feelings melt away and are replaced with a renewed awe that leaves your jaw on the floor for days to come. Then again, if you’re not like me and can’t get enough of this song, then you should have stopped reading and clicked the link a long time ago!
Todd’s Pick:

Death Battle is coming back for Season 05 in just a few weeks, and now, we officially know who the first two combatants will be.

While I won’t spoil it, I will say this is a matchup that has been requested for quite some time, and it’s no doubt going to deliver.

That’s all for week’s roundup. Tune back in next week to see what we are sharing next!
