British Comedy ‘The IT Crowd’ Getting American Remake

By Andrew AgressJanuary 18, 2018
The IT Crowd

After two failed attempts to adapt the hit British series The IT Crowd for American audiences, NBC is giving it another go. The original series ran for four seasons followed by a TV special. It starred Richard Ayoade, Chris O’Dowd, Katherine Parkinson, and Matt Berry. The first three played characters working in the IT department in the grungy basement of a large corporation.

The creator of the original show, Graham Linehan, will also write and produce the American remake. However, the American version will be more of a re-imagining of The IT Crowd then a standard remake, according to Variety. NBC previously tried to remake the show twice before with different casts and writers. While the latest iteration will likely have a new cast, it’s the first attempt that Linehan will be involved in. Hopefully third time’s the charm.

Andrew comes from the majestic land of New Jersey (the part that doesn't smell). A big fan of sketch comedy, he writes and performs it whenever possible. He gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
