Portkey Games Announces New Harry Potter Role-Playing Mobile Game

By Andrew AgressDecember 12, 2017
Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery

Coming hot off the heels of revealing a Harry Potter AR game by the makers of Pokemon Go, Portkey Games has announced a new mobile game set in the wizarding world. Porkey Games, the new Harry Potter gaming division of Warner Bros, will be making Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. In the game, players will take on the role of a wizard at Hogwarts and will get to go through all seven years. Hopefully not in real time. Unless the game is really, REALLY fun.

Either way, it’s too early to tell, but it looks like it should be the closest thing to getting your very own letter to Hogwarts. Players will take part in classes and activities from the hit series, such as Potions Class, Defense Against the Dark Arts Class, and Dueling Club. They’ll also get the chance to interact with Harry Potter characters. Professors will appear in the game, but it’s highly unlikely that players will interact with Harry or any of his friends, since the game takes place in the 1980s. The reason for this appears to be twofold. One, it prevents player’s decisions from conflicting with the pre-existing story of the books. And when it comes right down to it, would you really want to go to Hogwarts at the same time as Harry? Anything he’d do would overshadow your proudest achievement. Second reason? The 80s are cool.

Portkey Games and Warner Brothers have yet to release any trailers or picture for the game. However, they have given a release date of this coming spring.
