“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” Trailer Reveals Major Plot Points

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 10, 2017

After the popularity and acclaim of The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has a lot to live up to. However, now that the new trailer is here, it looks like it’s going to blow audiences away.

We see some dark moments in the trailer, like Kylo Ren, fresh off killing his father, now supposedly aiming missiles at his mother’s base of operations, and Finn going up against Captain Phasma. However, the biggest moments revolve around Rey and her new powers. She shows an incredible connection to the Force, one whose strength frightens Luke. What this means for her training, if she even has any, is unclear, but it doesn’t look good.

In the final shot, we see Rey speaking to someone about finding her place, followed by a shot of Kylo Ren extending his hand. Is Rey going to the dark side, or are these clever editors trying to trip us up? Who even knows what this all means for the grand finale that will be Star Wars IX.

This trailer was so plot-laden that the director Rian Johnson even hesitated from pointing people to watch it, mentioning in this tweet:

Still, we don’t get too much information and it certainly leaves you hungry for what is sure to be one hell of a sci-fi ride. So hungry, in fact, that apparently the recently release showtimes and tickets for the opening day of the film are going fast.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will debut in theaters on December 15, 2017.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
