Hulu Releases ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ Trailer

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 26, 2017

As the Marvel universe continues to expand on multiple networks and platforms, we finally get a glimpse of what Hulu’s foray into the comic book adaptation is going to look like with a new trailer for Marvel’s Runaways:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plyJQG-nRN0

Announced earlier this year, the premise of the show is simple: what would you do if you found out your parents were super villains? For Alex (Rhenzy Feliz), Nico (Lyrica Okano), Karolina (Virgina Gardner), Gert (Ariela Barer), Chase (Gregg Sulkin) and Molly (Allegra Acosta), they choose to team up as a force for good.

What it looks like from the trailer is that they had formed a friend group before the start of the show, but have stopped talking to each other for an unexplained reason. However, it is only after they see their parents together in a strange villainous ceremony for their group, The Pride, that the groups re-cements these broken bonds. They face off against their parents to prevent further sacrifices and come into their own powers and abilities. Oh yeah, Old Lace the dinosaur makes an appearance as well, if only to up the badassness of the show.

Showrunners Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have developed a 10-episode first season that is aimed at a younger teen audience, a demographic also tapped by upcoming Freeform shows New Warriors and Cloak and Dagger. It’s hard not to think that this show will resonant well with the age group, given the popularity of the comic it’s based on, but only time will tell.

Marvel’s Runaways premieres on Hulu on November 21, 2017.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
