Monster Musume’s Dub Cast Revealed

By William "Shadowz" KokJune 27, 2017

In case you haven’t heard already, Sentai Filmworks released a trailer revealing the dub cast for the anime of Okayado’s Monster Musume: Everyday Life With Monster Girls. If you haven’t, read our review of the anime when it was first released, which we highly praise.

First we have darling himself, Kimihito Kurusu, voiced by Bryson Bagus. You probably heard of him in  a recent role of Bell Cranel in Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Funny that I was told that his voice reminds him of a younger Johnny Young Bosh. It definitely a change from Junji Majima’s performance, but with a harem series under his belt, I feel he can pull through well.

Next is Mia the Lamia. She is voiced by Allison Sumrall. You will recognize her from Trinity Seven as Lilith Asami and Salama from Amagami brilliant Park. Comparing her to Sora Amamiya, it is apparent  in regards to the delivery of “Darling”. Maybe its preference, but I feel the pitch could be higher or maybe give it an accent.

Next is Papi the Harpy, voiced Britney Karbowski. Personally recognize her as the perverted Miyako Shinna of Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! or Majikoi for short. I believe that the role fits her quite well. Her voice matches the sense of Papi being a bit of a ditz and having a childlike behavior. Great work to her.

Then comes  Centorea Shianus, voiced by Molly Searcy. Funny enough that she previously voice Akame from Akame ga Kill and Isuzu Sentou from Amagami Brilliant Park. Fun fact: The Japanese voice actress Sora Amamiya who did Mia, also did Akame. I cant help but wonder if Molly would voice Mia instead of Centorea. In regards to delivery, I feel there is Akame in the voice, so it does work in terms of a sense of chivalry and knighthood.

Now Rachnera Arachnera, done by Courtney Lomelo. She is mostly based in main stage and TV acting, but she has some anime roles such Karen from Fate/kalied. Do I really need to say anything in regards to her delivery? The dark, sultry, tempting accent that reflects her sadistic nature and spider behavior. Needless to say, it’s perfect. Fun fact: June 27 is Rachnera’s birthday.

The Lovable slime Suu, voiced by Monica Rial. You should know her well given her extended list in anime like nurse Shizuka Marikawa in High School of the Dead and her role as Stocking in Panty and Stocking with Garter Belt. The delivery here just works. The soft pitch and the bubbly tone reflects the innocence is just moe material. So adorable.

Meroune Loelei, voiced by Maggie Flecknoe. Delivery reminds me of her role as Saya Takagi in High School of the Dead and Kusonoki Kasuga from The World God Only Knows.  For a regal voice, it was a bit much on the spirited side. Perhaps is the reason when she is in her tragedy phase of her character. Not much an opinion on her.

Lastly, Kuroko Smith, voiced by Shelly Calle-Black. You will immediately recognize her as Medaka Kurokami from Medeka Box or Kyou Fujiyabashi of Clannad. To be honest, at first I thought it was Colleen Clinkenbeard’s Erza from Fairy Tail. Overall the delivery is well done and keeps to the tone of professional, with a sense of seduction.

Monster Musume: Everyday Life with Monster Girls will be released on Blue Ray/DVD combo on July 25, 2017. You can preorder now on their site, which there is also a premium edition version as well. Please consider supporting this release as it will show Okayado that we want a season 2.
