Fullmetal Alchemist Manga Receives Digital Re-Release

By Josh PiedraJune 14, 2017

In celebration of the upcoming live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie, Hiromu Arakawa’s blockbuster manga series is returning in digital format all thanks to Square-Enix. The re-release will be featured on the Gangan Online website with chapters being released every Monday and Thursday. The first chapter is already up and can be viewed here.

There is also an official Fullmetal Alchemist fan event coming up on July 12. The event will be held at Cinemart Shinjuku and currently has 500 seats available. Romi Park (Edward) and Rie Kugimiya (Alphonse) will be taking part in an “Elric Brothers Special Talk Event,” and film actors Tsubasa Honda (Winry Rockbell), Kanata Hongo (Envy), and Ryuta Sato (Maes Hughes) will be joining director Fumihiko Sori for a discussion about the upcoming film. You can register for tickets; however, doing so will not guarantee you access to the event. The 500 lucky ticket holders will be chosen randomly via lottery.

Currently, Fullmetal Alchemist is licensed by Yen Press for digital release in North America as well as VIZ Media for physical releases. The manga was originally published in Square Enix’s Monthy Shonen Gangan magazine from 2001-2010. It inspired two television anime series, one called Fullmetal Alchemist which deviated from the manga and another called Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood which stayed faithful to the source material.

Gangan Online is also holding a contest on Twitter. Retweeting a specific tweet will enter you into a drawing in which 10 winners will be picked. The winners will receive a random special Tosho card pictured below.

The tweet that needs to be retweeted is the following:
