The Cine-Analyst: Episode 4 – Jessica Jones

On this week’s brand new episode of The Cine-Analyst, we take a look at Jessica Jones, the female member of The Defenders and proof positive that you can make money on a female-led solo series. Jones is a survivor of the mental and physical manipulation of Kilgrave, a villain who can make anyone do anything by issuing a verbal command. But can she overcome her personal demons to become a hero or just settle for a bottle of whiskey?

Here’s what we talk about this episode:

  • How Jessica Jones‘s plot doesn’t use rape as short-hand for damaged
  • Jessica tries to save herself by saving a girl named Hope
  • Is killing amoral or just the easy way out?
  • If you do the right thing for the wrong reason, do you make a left turn?

Tune in every Friday as I breakdown fictional characters and talk about what’s going on inside that brain of theirs. Are your favorite heroes crazy or just misunderstood? Find out on this season of The Cine-Analyst!
