Zelda To Have “Lot Of Emotions” In Breath Of The Wild

Zelda, Nintendo Switch, Breath Of The Wild

For a franchise called The Legend of Zelda, the titular Zelda often isn’t portrayed very much. True, she’s often the focus of the story, and has been caught by Ganon and other characters many times. But only in a few cases have we ever really gotten to know her. Ocarina of Time, Windwaker, and Skyward Sword were great takes on the character. And now, Breath of the Wild seems to be adding to that.

For Skyward Sword, we not only got to see her not burdened (for a while) by her destiny, but one that actually had a friendship with Link. Which earned the game high praise. BOTW is set to expand that according to Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma, who said in an upcoming interview with Game Informer:

“I don’t want to get too deep into it, but I do want you to know that Zelda does have a lot of emotions and expressions, and for the trailer we chose one that was very extreme. Once you start playing Breath of the Wild, I want you to explore and see these different sides of Zelda, different emotions that she evokes.”

It’s interesting that he says he wants us to explore and see what Zelda does, as that seems to mean that she’ll be traveling with Link on his journey, which would be a true first for the franchise. Which is also why Aonuma stated that players shouldn’t try to rush things in game, as they may miss some of what Zelda does, which to him would be a sad thing.

We can’t wait to get our hands on Breath of the Wild on the Switch and Wii U on March 3rd, and we hope you can’t either! Let us know what you’d like to see from our favorite princess in the game via the comments below!
