Xbox’s Forza Racing Franchise Surpasses $1 Billion in Sales

By Keith MitchellFebruary 13, 2017

Congrats to Microsoft, Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, for surpassing$ 1 billion in retail sales for the Forza racing series. According to Xbox Wire, the racing franchise managed to surpass the $1 billion mark during December 2016. With a huge push of those sales coming from last year’s smash hit racing title, Forza Horizon 3 with 2.5 million units being sold.

Today, we’re excited to share a major milestone – as of December 2016, the Forza franchise has exceeded $1 billion in retail sales.

“Since the beginning, Forza has combined stunning graphics, racing’s leading simulation engine, and an emphasis on fun and accessibility,” said Phil Spencer, head of Xbox. “With the Forza series, Turn 10 Studios has built the world’s largest racing community. We couldn’t be more proud of their success.”

We’d like to thank our amazing fans and partners for their continued support and we can’t wait for you to see what 2017 will bring.

I’m definitely excited, especially since Forza has been one of my favorite racing series of all time. It’s right up there with Gran Turismo and Need for Speed. It’s only going to get better from here. I can’t wait to see and hear what they have planned for Forza Motorsport 7 for Xbox One, PC, and Scorpio.
