Persona News Recap: Anime, Mementos and Service!

By William "Shadowz" KokJuly 23, 2016

So this week there was a lot of news in regards to Persona 5 from ATLUS’s Nico Nico Douga presentation. From new gameplay, the prelude anime, collaborations, it’s a great day for Persona fans.

So to begin things off, they now have an updated opening of the game. Now adding Makoto Nijima, Futaba Sakura, Yuuske Kutagawa and Haru Okumura into the mix.

Another news that’s not really surprising is following up to the games release in Japan , there will be an anime called “The Day Breakers” which will be a prelude to the game that will begin airing on September 3rd.

In further collaborations and increasing the long list of Persona based headphones, ATLUS is collaborating with AKG headphones to make a special “Persona 5 Futaba Sakura Edition” headphones which will cost 39,800 yen (375 USD). The package includes replacement ear pads, a remix soundtrack including works from Shoji Meguro and Ryota Koduka, designed package and tapestry from the artist Shigenori Soejima, and  serial number certification card.  Order are currently up till October 3, which you can order on their site here. It is Japanese native so please be advised of shipping and handling.

Then they showed off 18 full minutes of the beginning portion of the game, showing off the Casino Heist shown in earlier trailers, the interaction dialogue, and the events that lead to you naming the Hero. This does shows off story elements so *SPOILER WARNING* and skip if you do not want to be surprised yet.

One new addition to the game is a free roam dungeon called “Mementos”, which the producers said the scale is as big as the entire game of Persona 4.  That itself is already a cause for excitement.  With a map that large, you need to have a ride, to which Morgana provides. She transforms into a bus for the gang to easily get around in the maps. The dungeon itself is randomly generated and you’ll be able to take quest and find items to help you through your journey. At the end of the trailer, you also see  the “car service” in action.

You think out of all things to forget in  car, how can you forget the AC?

Persona 5 will be released on September 15 in Japan and Valentines Day February 14, 2017 in the West for PS4 and PS3. You can still preorder the PS4 “Take Your Heart” Collector’s edition of the game at your  online and local vendors, which you can order here at Amazon.
