The Marvel Cinematic Universe Casts its Punisher

By Walter MackJune 9, 2015

You probably know him best as Shane Walsh on season 1 and 2 of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Come 2016 on Netflix’s second season of Daredevil, actor Jon Bernthal will be portraying Frank Castle aka The Punisher. Contrasting sharply with the heroes around him in his ruthless approach to shutting down criminals and villains, Castle has managed to garner many fans throughout his years as a character.

As Marvel’s Netflix series share the same universe as their films, this leaves the opportunity for the fan favorite vigilante to appear in upcoming Marvel films.

Since his stint on The Walking Dead, Bernthal has appeared on many projects such as Martin Scorsese directed feature, The Wolf of Wall Street (alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill) and Fury (Brad Pitt, Logan Lerman, Shia LaBeauf, Michael Peña).

Fun Fact: Fellow The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) voiced The Punisher in the 2013 animated movie Iron Man: Rise of the Technovore.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
