Seven Dragon Saga Announced

It is the Emperor’s role to proclaim.
It is the Dragons’ role to command.
It is the role of the Touched to act, without hesitation and without regret.

SDS-high-ruinsAnyone remember the old ‘Gold Box’ RPG games from the 80s and 90s? Well, they’re making a comeback with TSI’s upcoming Seven Dragon Saga.

Seven Dragon Saga will be heading back to SSI Gold Box inspired pen and paper role-play roots, with the player jumping behind powerful characters right from the get go. Yup, that’s right, none of those farmhands learning how to hold a sword or prophesised orphans apprenticed in magic like we’ve come to expect from fantasy RPGs over the last decade. Players start the game as a capable hero and jump right into adventure.

It’s still in the very early stages of development, but the story looks interesting so far. It is, however, by no means innovative or ground breaking. The player will form a band of powerful allies, known as ‘touched by the winds of chaos’ or just ‘the Touched’, and set out on an epic adventure to uncover the mysteries of the Empire. Decisions on who you welcome into your party will affect the world, and ultimately the player will decided the fate of the Empire and its people.

Still, if you’re a fan of old school PC gaming, you’ll want to keep an eye on Seven Dragon Saga. With more details in the coming months, I’m looking forward to seeing what they have in store.
