Capcom pulling Marvel vs. Capcom 3 from PSN & Xbox Live

By Keith MitchellDecember 15, 2013

Capcom has recently announced that they will no longer offer both Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 on either PlayStation Network or Xbox Live as of December 17th for PSN, December 26 for XBL. Once that date hits for either digital service the games will no longer be accessible for news purchases, however if you already own the game you will still be able to download it onto your consoles still. As such Capcom has slashed all DLC for both games by 50%, this doies not include the games as it was previously reported.  In fact I checked the PSN for the title and oddly enough it was already not available for purchase for the PlayStation 3 already, oddly enough this does not affect the Vita version.

Capcom has yet to state why both titles will be removed from the online distribution services however speculation is that the Marvel license that was granted to Capcom has expired, which is similar to what happened to Activitison’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance which required all of the title’s DLC to be removed from the both marketplaces.

We’ve reached out to Capcom to find out why this is happening exactly and will update the story once we get a reply.
