What do you get when you take Pokemon and Gundam? Well thankfully you don’t get those darned Pokemon that leave crap everywhere, ew. But you do get Gundam series that revolves around the concept of Gundam’s that “Evolve”, which is actually a concept that has yet to be introduced to the Mobile Suit Gundam until now.
What once started out as a pitch from Level 5 (The same company behind Professor Layton) to Bandai for a new Gundam game as turned into a full blown Gundam series. Produced by Level 5 and directed by Level 5’s President; Akihiro Hino, Gundam AGE will be Sunrise’s 12 saga in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Gundam AGE will premier on the MBS and TBS in Japan on October 9th, 2011. No mention on when and if it will reach the US as of yet.
In A.G. 101 (the 101st year of the Advanced Generation calendar) a mysterious entity known only as “UE”, or “unknown enemy”, attacks and destroys the space colony Angel. This brutal attack becomes infamous as the “The Day the Angel Fell”, and marks the beginning of humanity’s war for survival. The series begins in A.G. 108 when the UE attack the space colony Ovan, where Flit Asuno lives with his mother. Flit’s mother is killed by the UE, and in her belongings (in an object called a “AGE Device”) he discovers the blueprints for a powerful weapon from the past–the ancient messiah named “Gundam.”
From these blueprints, Flit spends the next several years studying engineering at an Earth Federation base on the Nora space colony and designing the AGE-1 Gundam AGE-1 Normal. Seven years later, in A.G. 115, Flit completes the Gundam AGE-1 Normal, just as the UE attack Nora. Flit and his lineage’s battle piloting the AGE-1 to protect mankind is about to begin.

I admit it looks kiddy / childish, but let’s not judge it before we see it, shall we. Though I am kind of tired of the whole “Gundam piloted by child” theme and would love a new Gundam series, similar to Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team.
