Just when you thought that Sony had Nintendo on the ropes they go and do something bone headed like this. Sony’s Executive Vice President Kazuo Hirai (RIDGE RACER!) has announced that while the Vita will go on sale in at the end of 2011 in Japan, it will release early 2012 for the US and Europe, so no Christmas release for us.
However it’s not immediately clear if this delay is due the hardware not being ready, though Sony did mention that they did want to wait until they were prepared with a strong launch line up. That doesn’t add up however; You’ll launch it in Japan with a weak line up but not the US and Europe?
Well this will at least allow Nintendo to rest easier this holiday season, at least in the US and Europe. And allow our wallets to breathe a little easier.
