Under Cover is a VR lightgun Shooter inspired by Time Crisis for Meta Quest

During the UploadVR showcase, I took notice of a game that reminded me of Bandai Namco’s Arcade lightgun shooter title, Time Crisis, called Under Cover for Meta Quest. Sure enough, that’s precisely how its developer, Sigtrap, and publishers Thunderful and Coatsink describe the upcoming VR light gun shooter game. Given that I loved playing Time Crisis at the arcades, well, before they started dying out.

The gameplay shown during the showcase and in the trailer I sent afterward, Under Cover, looks like a lot of fun. Not that arcade lightgun shooters were never fun, but seeing how this arcade-theme shooter looks to recreate the times of old, maybe that’s why I’m excited to check this out when it gets released later in February 2024.

According to press release information, Under Cover will include a beefy 5 to 6-hour campaign that you can play solo or with a friend via an online co-op mode. Under Cover’s score system will reward players with accurate aim, how fast they take down enemies, and how high their chained kills get. While the Active Cover System reloads your ammo while you duck. Now, where have I seen that before?

While there has been a slew of VR shooting games, maybe have been hit or miss, so I’ll cross my fingers that Under Cover is not only one of those games that kicks all sorts of ass but also scratches that arcade light shooter itch that’s been plaguing me for so long.

I am not sure which Meta Quest the game will be released for, as everything I’ve read says Meta Quest, but several versions of the VR headset exist. I’ve contacted the developer and publisher to see if I can get more information for the game and update this article when I do.
