The OneXPlayer X1 Handheld Gaming PC Packs Intel’s Meteor Lake CPU

Another handheld PC gaming manufacturer, OneXPlayer, has revealed its next upcoming device called the OneXPlayer X1, and this one is yet another surprise, that being it will be the next handheld PC gaming device using Intel’s Core Ultra processor line-up.

While details of this new device are scarce, we do know that the OneXPlayer X1 will feature an Intel Core Ultra 5/7, a 65Wh battery that will reportedly offer 3 hours of gaming time/10-12 hours of media consumption, 10.95-inch 2.5K resolution 120Hz screen, and two detachable controllers. In truth, this looks more like a table between two controllers than a conventional handheld device such as a Steam Deck or Asus ROG Ally.

However, don’t count on that coming cheap, as OneXPlayer has revealed the pricing for the device, and it’s easily more expensive than most handheld gaming PCs on the market. At these prices, OneXPlayer is going to have an uphill battle when it comes to the other available devices, and that offered performance will need to be exceptional.

  • Intel Core Ultra 5 125H + 16GB RAM + 1TB storage – $925
  • Intel Core Ultra 7 155H + 32GB RAM + 1TB storage – $1,100
  • Intel Core Ultra 7 155H + 32GB RAM + 2TB storage – $1,180
  • Intel Core Ultra 7 155H + 64GB RAM + 4TB storage – $1,490

OneXPlayer has opened an Indiegogo crowdfunding page where you can sign up for more information and details about when the device will go on sale.

While AMD’s Ryzen 7 7840U, Z1, and AMD Z1 Extreme APUs have been what we’ve seen in more recent Handheld PCs, times are changing. Before the OneXPlayer X1 reveal, MSI announced at CES 2024 that it is working on its own handheld gaming PC, the MSI Claw, that will also utilize Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H processor with integrated Intel Arc graphics.

With the OneXPlayer X1 being the second device to use Intel’s offering, I can’t help but wonder if the company will make the jump from Team Red to Team Blue and if the jump will be worth it for consumers.
