Were here on The Outerhaven, especially my crew over on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, love the works of Masahiro Sakurai. He’s clearly one of the best in the business, and when he started his “Creating Games” YouTube Channel, it was one of the coolest things ever. He talked about the history of video games, elements of video game design, and so on. He made things feel important even when you didn’t realize they were that crucial.
His goal was always to help people when trying to make games, and the number of videos and topics he’s created has been incredible. But, sadly, on his community page today, he made this announcement:
It’s a bit late to be saying this, but…Happy New Year! I’m planning to wrap up Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games sometime this year. Until then, I hope you’ll stay tuned!
That’s really sad because I could’ve watched those videos for many years to come. Whether this means he’s got a new gaming project or simply doesn’t know how many more videos he can make is unclear. But I thank him for the fun videos and memories.
