Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele give us a first look at the OD Game

During the 2023 The Game Awards show, Hideo Kijoma unveiled the OD project he has been working on with Xbox Game Studios for some time. While this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of this game, it is the first time we’ve seen anything from it. But that’s not all; Jordan Peele, award-winning filmmaker (Nope, Get Out, Us), revealed he’ll work with Kojima on the game.

But what do we know about the game? Well, not much, and that’s what troubles me. Sure, Hideo Kijoma is a masterclass for developing games, but he’s also quirky, and that’s why people love him so much. With OD, we don’t know much about what this game is about, and the game trailer, while it does feature some impressive floating heads created by actors Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier (Hunters, Swan Song), doesn’t give us an idea.

“We are working with Xbox Game Studios and their cloud gaming technology to take on the challenge of creating a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game – or rather, a new form of media,” said Hideo Kojima, Game Creator and Founder of Kojima Productions.

There hasn’t been any word on when we can expect OD to be released, so I imagine this game is still pretty far out there. Regardless, I’ve watched the trailer for OD multiple times and want to see what becomes of this game. Is it a game for gamers and screamers? Or will it be much, much more? Only Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele know for sure, and they aren’t talking about it- yet.
