Bandai Namco Highlights Tekken 8 issues caused by Balance Patch 1.03.01

By Kevin KellyApril 10, 2024

After Eddy’s launch in Tekken 8, there seem to be some issues that need to be ironed out. Balance Patch 1.03.01 seems to have stopped certain moves from working correctly and other unpleasant things to happen. Some combos that worked, before the patch with those certain moves as dependencies, will not work now. Azucena, Eddy, and Zafina’s moves are the most effected by this patch. Even the activations would still allow character movements to still happen while the animation is going.

Fighters, we have confirmed the following unintended character behaviors in Patch 1.03.01:

1 – Zafina's backdash
2 – Tornados moves

We are currently working on addressing these two issues and a patch will be released to fix them soon.

1 – Due to animation data changes, backdash distance is shorter than expected.

2 – Changes were made to collision detection between walls and characters to fix moves whiffing while near a wall (using Tornados & Rage Arts). However, this change has impacted some existing combos.

Warriors, we have identified additional issues in patch 1.03.01:
3 – In specific situations, some characters may be able to move during Rage Art & Heat Burst animations.
4 – Azucena's "Espresso Agresión" (WR 3,1) is currently too hard to punish by side stepping.

5 – Eddy's Heat Dash can sometimes be activated even after whiffing.
6 – When Eddy's heat dash is activated, an opponent's behavior is different from what's expected.

7 – Eddy sometimes performs unintended dashes & back dashes.

These issues will be fixed in an upcoming patch.
Thanks for your patience, Fighters!

“These issues will be fixed in an upcoming patch. We will keep you updated as soon as more information is available. Thank you for your patience, warriors.” Bandai Namco stated. Balance Patch 1.04 will possibly fix these issues. A release date for this patch has not been revealed yet for Tekken 8.

Tekken 8 is available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
