Devil May Cry 5 Will Support 4K@60FPS on the PlayStation 4 Pro

By Keith MitchellSeptember 26, 2018
Devil May Cry 5

While all the footage that we’ve seen of Devil May Cry 5 running at 4K@f60FPS has been the Xbox One X. That doesn’t mean that Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro will be left on the sidelines. In fact, Matt Walker, a producer over at Capcom, has gone on record and stated that the PS4 Pro will support 4K resolution at 60 FPS.

It will indeed. 4k@60fps on Pro. ^_^

Now, you may be asking what’s the big deal and why does it matter. So let’s break that down. DMC5 places a huge emphasis on combat. Neck breaking, speedy combat. The last thing you want is to be bogged down by running the game at 4K, but only at 30FPS. If done incorrectly, it’s noticeable and can disrupt the sense of immersion.  So it’s nice to see that there won’t be any compromises when it running the game at 4K.

Until now, no one outside of Capcom could answer that question. All the footage we’ve seen, including the Digital Foundry breakdown, has been done on the Xbox One X. While we now know the resolution and framerate, there’s still one thing that’s up in the air. Will this be a native 4K@60FPS or will it use checkerboarding. Now, don’t get me wrong, either method works and I have zero preference on this. However, for some reason this always tends to cause a lot of debates over which is the superior rendering process.

We’ve reached out to Capcom to see if they can provide a bit more info regarding this.

Devil May Cry 5 releases March 9, 2019, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
