SDCC 2017 – Ultra Street Fighter II Gets A Truly Final Challenger

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieJuly 22, 2017

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers released in May to quite the tepid reaction. Having only added two new characters, both of which are considered to be overall palette swaps, fans of the old classic didn’t warm up to the new entry. In other words, USFII is largely considered to be HD Remix with 2 new characters.

That didn’t stop Capcom from revealing some new hype about Ultra II during their Street Fighter panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.

As you can see in the picture above, Shin Akuma, the penultimate version of Akuma, was revealed to be unlockable in the new edition of Street Fighter II. The steps are quite specific, and cannot be used in local online or internet battles.

Unlocking Shin Akuma in Ultra Street Fighter II is quite simple:

  • Select Ryu, cancel on Color 1
  • Select Ken, cancel on Color 9
  • Select Sagat, cancel on Color 8
  • Select Dictator (M.Bison/Vega,) cancel on Color 7
  • Place the cursor on Random Select and press L & R at the same time.
