Sony’s Platinum Wireless Headset to Launch in January 2017

While they were originally announced before, Sony never provided a release date for their upcoming Platinum Wireless Headset. In fact, they were originally slated to be released later this year but were pushed back until next year. Earlier today, Sony announced that the headset will now be released on January 12th, 2017, and will be priced at $159.99.

The headset will also work with PCs or any device that accepts a 3.5mm input. sony-platinum-headset

The Platinum Headset will no doubt be high on everyone’s list of gaming goodies and include everything a gamer could want. From the 7.1 virtual surround sound, hidden noise-cancelling microphone, and 50mm drivers, this should be a welcome replacement for the aging PlayStation Gold Headset. The Platinum Wireless Headset is currently available for pre-order now at Bestbuy and Amazon for $159.99.

I think I’m going to pick one up for myself.

I hope this thing is sturdier than the PS Gold headset…it lasted less than a year.

  • They better be. The PS Gold headsets were junk. Can’t believe after all those complaints about the hinges that Sony never addressed the issue.

While I have the PS3 Wireless headset from Sony, I never got the Gold, as I just bought my PS4 a month ago. But it sounds like I didn’t miss much.

  • Nope. I hated the gold sets. Sadly, there’s not much to go on about the Platinums. Sony has been mum about them so far.
