Daytona USA Is Racing Back To Arcades?

By Keith MitchellNovember 1, 2016

If you would have asked me in the past if we’d see another Daytona USA title from SEGA, I would have shot you down with a firm NO! and that “SEGA doesn’t own the Daytona license anymore, so for this to happen would take a small miracle”. Well, seems that’s exactly what happened as SEGA has announced that a new Daytona title is heading to arcades.

This announcement comes directly from SEGA’s Twitter feed.

#DaytonaIsBack… Play it on Sega Booth 1606 @IAAPAHQ @OCCC 2 weeks today! #IAE16 #Daytona #ArcadeOnly https://t.co/DHLau6lVMo

— Sega Amusements International Ltd. (@SegaAmusements) November 1, 2016

Set to be playable during the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, which takes place from November 15-18, 2016, in Orlando, Flordia. Not else is known about the game yet, but there are rumors from Arcade Heros, that a trailer may be released in the upcoming future.

Update: Looks like Arcade Heroes has more legit info, including the fact that this is a proper Daytona USA sequel. More info over at www.arcadeheroes.com. What can we expect? Three new tracks plus remastered versions of the original tracks, new cars, new game modes and it appears to be playable for up to 8 players. I really hope that Dave and Busters get this in since there are no other arcades within 200 miles of me.

Someone pinch me, this isn’t real, is it? Ok, thanks, looks like this is real and I can’t wait for more information to be released. I must have spent a small fortune on the original Daytona USA and Daytona USA 2 in arcades when I was younger. Not to mention the versions I’ve picked up for the Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and of course the Xbox Live version for the Xbox 360.

DAYTONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
