Sony’s big Playstation fan convention, Playstation Experience, begins today. Even though this week gave us plenty of new announcements for video games, Sony always comes through and surprises us with even more things to show. So just what do the SonyCentric folks expect to see tomorrow during the Playstation Showcase and throughout the weekend? Here are our thoughts:

Jason Kwasnicki (@SolidKwas)

Honestly, I don’t expect much from this PSX. Most of Sony’s hand is played, with Sucker Punch being the only big studio really unaccounted for. However, that means any surprises will be all the more unexpected. I definitely see Sucker Punch at least teasing a new game. I believe they will continue the Infamous IP, but go in a different direction with it. Otherwise, a lot of the conference will be devoted to imminent titles. Horizon Zero Dawn will be a big focus, and I think a new trailer is a given. I also believe we’ll get a new trailer for Detroit: Become Human. I agree with my esteemed colleague that Rockstar will give a more substantive premiere of the new Red Dead title, and Capcom will definitely show off more details regarding Resident Evil 7. However, you’re out of your damned mind if you think we’ll see Final Fantasy VII Remake. Finally, my big “reach for the stars” prediction is a tease, if not a full presentation of what will be “Destiny 2“. It is time.

This is Sony’s event. Being an intimate celebration of Playstation fans, they always know how to impress. This year’s E3 conference was incredible, but it left a lot of things unanswered. For starters, I think we’ll see Insomniac’s Spider Man title given an official name, as well as a new trailer (hoping for gameplay, but I sort of doubt it). The Last Guardian will get one final hurrah before it is finally released this Tuesday. Speaking of things finally releasing, Final Fantasy XV is out now. It’s time to shift focus. Either we’ll finally see more of Final Fantasy VII Remake, or we start to get more concrete information on the highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III. I feel anything from Square at this rate is practically a requirement. Next, we’ll hopefully see an update on Shenmue III, as it’s been even longer since we heard about its progress. Expect to see plenty of new trailers for previously announced titles, such as Horizon Zero DawnDetroit: Become Human, and even Days Gone. Finally, I’m expecting more push for Playstation VR and Playstation 4 Pro. VR is killing it so far, and it would be a waste to let all of this new hardware go unspoken of. This is your stage, Sony, with your entire audience watching. There’s no better time to convince the naysayers.

I’m thinking Uncharted 4 gets story DLC revealed, perhaps including a new adventure with Sam & Sully. Also, in light of the recent reveals at The Game Awards, I doubt that’s the end we’re seeing of both Death Stranding and Mass Effect: Andromeda. I’m expecting to see more from both titles at the event. Capcom will confirm Marvel vs. Capcom 4 and talk about some new characters in the game. Resident Evil 7 gameplay will be shown and we’ll learn more about the enemies within the game. Bandai Namco will show a new Ni No Kuni 2 trailer, a small gameplay clip, and a prospective release window. For hardware, a new Playstation VR bundle will be announced, including all necessary accessories and Resident Evil 7 available for preorder that night. I also expect a new Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay trailer to be shown, as well as a release date for Outlast 2. Lastly, now that Final Fantasy XV is out and living, we will finally see some more Final Fantasy VII Remake footage.

Those are some of our expectations, but what do you think? Do you agree with Jason that Final Fantasy VII Remake is nowhere in sight, or do you think Delaila and I are right in thinking it’s now its turn in the limelight? Think we’ll see Destiny 2 happen? Or Sucker Punch’s latest and greatest? Let us know in the comments.
