Futurality
Zavier Williams is a computer hacker, so he thinks he knows what he’s getting into when he steals the code for a video game that hasn’t come out yet. When he tries to sell it on the black market, his buyer turns out to be an NSA agent with orders to detain or kill. Zavier soon learns that the game’s title – Futurality – is way more literal than he thought it was.

I wrote my first story in first grade.

My horrible chickenscratch handwriting made it impossible for anyone to read it, and for some reason I didn’t have the foresight to pursue word processing or self-publication options. The story was about time travel. I remember that I got to meet the Jetsons, as well as some Dinosaurs (Dinosaurs are awesome, I highly recommend them if you get the chance, and a working time travel apparatus).

In high school, I wrote two full length novels, a fantasy novel (after a full rewrite it become Nightblade, an award winning novel I wrote for my senior thesis in college) and a science fiction novel called Futurality. I also took classes in poetry and fiction writing and wrote dozens of poems and short stories. Other than writing, I spent most of my time in high school boxing (my amateur record was 2-1-1), running track, playing xbox, reading, and waiting for college. The wait was brutal.

But it was well worth it. In 2007, I moved to Philadelphia where I attended the University of the Arts. I wrote two novels while I was at UArts, a horror story called Vengeance and a fantasy novel called Bareloth. My work with Bareloth won me the University’s Jean Baker Memorial Award for Excellence in Writing. In 2011, I received a B.S. in Communication with a minor in Creative Writing.

Today, I still live in Philly. I work at a nightclub in center city as a bouncer, and as a personal boxing trainer during the day (go to jboxing.com for more on that). Even with those two jobs, my real title is author, and I pursue my dream to the fullest, every day. I hope you find something you like here, if you do, pass it along! If you have any critiques or opinions pass those along as well. Now stop reading this bio and click on something fun to read! Enjoy.

Real technology that sounds like science fiction: E. Coli Fuel for use in cars
I had to repost this article I found on Popular Mechanics – the uses this fuel could have are amazing. The gist is that by controlling the fat creating processes of E Coli, they have made a synthetic organism that can produce fuel that is actually usable in vehicles. www.popularmechanics.com I envision spacecraft filled with… Read the full article

Review of Suspect by Robert Crais

My Rating: 4/5 Stars One Sentence Review: The action and suspense in Suspect are solid, but it’s the deep, lovable characters (especially Maggie, the K9 german shephard police dog) in this story that really set it apart. Summary and Main Review: Suspect follows the story of Scott James, who is mourning the loss of his… Read the full article

New Short Story: The Blacksmith and the Sorceress

The Blacksmith and the Sorceress By Jason Howard               The chains suspended him just a few inches off the ground. Droplets of water splashed into rancid puddles. Rays of torchlight fluctuated from a single barred window in the dungeon’s door.             A guard came in. He wore black armor and had deep blue eyes.… Read the full article

Will Smith on Fear

Great video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikHyDwyqdRM Will Smith has always been my hero. My first tape (yes, a cassette tape haha) was Big Willie Style. My favorite movie, which I’ve seen countless times, is Bad Boys. The above YouTube video is something I can always put on when I’m suffering with an artist’s self-doubt.

Getting Buck: My First Krump Battle

I was standing out in the cold gripped by a suffocating, irrational fear. I could see high rises and skyscrapers in the distance, but I was just outside of Center City, where I work and live. The buildings glittered against the night sky, their windows like jewels, or eyes, or stars. The orange street lights… Read the full article

Review of Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C. Clark

4/5 stars Clark’s ability to balance science and story is impressive! Rendezvous with Rama did what science fiction is supposed to do: it was an entertaining story, and it expanded my view of what is scientifically possible. There were complex concepts and technical terms throughout, but the prose was so crisp and easy to understand that… Read the full article

Review of Rumo by Walter Moers

Rumo is a young adult fantasy novel and in a word, awesome! A fun, whimsical fantasy adventure with great characters and an imaginative world full of surprises. New Cover Art for Nightblade!

My next novel is a fantasy called Nightblade. I’m almost done with the 10th draft of this huge project, and it is based on something I started in high school – so it’s been seven years in progress. Nightblade is about an enchanted disease called the Soul Sickness which is ravaging the land of Ascadell.… Read the full article

The Thunderstorm (a short thriller)

Download The Thunderstorm or read on it here! Lightning flared, illuminating the bar. Everyone flinched when the thunder came. Zeus’s rage-laden paroxysm rattled their glasses, and bass flooded their eardrums. Only one man, sitting at the corner of the bar, seemed unimpressed by this deluge of nature’s power. The darkness seemed to inhabit and envelop him. The… Read the full article
